It is just a short distance from Glastonbury to Wells. But it was already about 4 p.m and we were not sure if we even get the chance to go inside Wells Cathedral.
Indeed it was about closing and we could only see a small part of it.


And we found the main reason to come here: *the* stairs!
The stairhouse looks huge in film and even in this picture but in fact it is rather small.
We saw many places during our trip but this was the only one where I always really expected Abbot Hugo or Sir Guy running around screaming. ;o)

The door to Marion's chamber does not exist. Not even the chamber exists. When you walk through the not existing door you will enter Ravenscar crypt.
