Draycott Sleights

Locksley's last stand - The greatest enemy

even later on Wednesday, August 25th

On the way back from Wells to Weston-super-mare we found Draycott on the map.
And after a discussion at a yahoo-group the other week (I don't remember which group exactly) about Robin's last stand being a golf course now (or not), we thought about trying to find it. Which seemed quite difficult to us because even stones change in twenty years.

After taking a wrong road in the middle of Draycott we saw this:

It must have been somewhere up there! But again the old question: how do we get there?
Again we surrounded the area and found a way right through the hill. Again a 'public footpath' through sheep pasture. ;o)
But it was there! And now we know for sure: it is not a golf course!
And again a wonderful view downwards:
This is how it looks like when you are too late for sunset:
As it was getting dark quickly we wanted to come back the next day. In time for sunset. But the next day we went to Wales and to the cinema in Bristol. So we decided to come back on friday morning before driving towards Swindon....

Unfortunately it rained during the night to friday. And it was foggy. :o(
At about 11 we left the hotel where the weather slightly brightened. But when we reached Draycott the top of the hill was completly invisible hidden in clouds.

We tried to make the best of it. We have not traveled the long way from Germany to give up because of the weather! ;o)

We also had some 'clear' moments...
Sometimes you can even use a too dark picture (this one is one of Jutta's):
pull mouse over ... ;o)
